Broasca-testoasa Lepidochelys kempii isi depune ouale indeosebi pe o plaja din Mexic. De mult, aici veneau zeci de mii de testoase. In prezent numai cateva sute ajung si isi depun ouale. Multe dintre ele s-au inecat prinse in navoadele pentru peste, in timp ce altele au murit din cauza apelor poluate cu petrol.

a. Read the following text and write the questions to which the underlined words in the text are the answers: 10 points
Some people want to own exotic things - things that are very unusual or that come from another country. A Persian carpet is one example of an exotic item.
If you decide to stop by a carpet shop to learn about Persian carpets, you may be in for a few surprises. First, there is no apparent price system (1). Bigger carpets aren't necessarily more expensive than smaller carpets. Second, you may be presented with too many details (2). The salesperson will probably tell you more about the pattern, quality, materials, origin and age of the carpet (3) than you wish to know. Third, the choice is overwhelming. It is not uncommon for a salesperson to show twenty carpets to a customer who shows some interest. This can be a very confusing situation. You may even feel pressured to buy a carpet that you're not sure you really want.
The best advice for buying a Persian carpet is to get a good knowledge of carpets (4). The price of the carpet is determined by three factors. One is the beauty of the carpet. Think of where you intend to put the carpet. Consider the patterns and the colors. Another thing to consider is the quality of the materials, knots, and dyes in the carpet. Soft wool is more expensive than coarse wool and both are superior to synthetics made of nylon. Tightly knitted carpets (carpets with more knots per square centimeter) are generally more valuable. Natural dyes keep a more beautiful color over the years than artificial dyes. The age of the carpet is a third thing to consider. Older carpets (5) are more valuable than newer carpets. Antique carpets are especially valuable. Of course, to be valuable, an old carpet must be in good condition.
In short, the best advice is “study the carpet". Don't be in a hurry. Don't buy on impulse.

b. Read the text again and decide if the following sentences are true (T) or false (F). On your answer sheet, write T or F next to the number indicating each sentence. 5 points
